Content?

It's 5:30AM and I'm suddenly enamored at the possibility of purchasing new furniture tomorrow.

Yes, that's right. A week or so ago I procured an of Montreal LP and desired something to play it on. Now, this led to needing something to actually put a turntable on, so I looked at end tables. What I planned to do was to buy some sticky dealies to mount the record sleeve to the wall all artsy-like.

One thing leads to another, and I come up with a fantastic vision for my currently-empty dining room. Music theme! It can have the CD/LP player in the corner, a few LP sleeves hung on the wall in a vertical line, maybe even a framed piece of art or two that's music themed. It might cost a bit, but it's worth it to finally get something in that room. Later in the month I plan to purchase a nice solid dining room table that hopefully I can also get some use out of.

So I'll compile a few things I'll need to buy:
  1. Stick wall-mount thingies to secure the LP sleeve I already have to the wall and for future endeavors to that effect.
  2. The LP/CD player itself, which is a pretty good chunk of change, but it'd be nice to have a way to play my music in the dining/living room area, including LPs I buy.
  3. An end table or two, one for the actual purpose of providing a table for my couch, the other for a stand for said player.
  4. A lamp for the end table next to the couch.
I also need to clean. I should probably do that first, but maybe I'll go out and shop so I'll be able to listen to music while I do so. I don't think I should be this excited about cleaning and purchasing furniture!

In the meantime, though, Thursday I went down to Voorhees to pay rent and re-up my lease for another year, so I guess I'm here until at least June of 2010! That's not a bad thing, though, since my apartment is more than acceptable and generally a good place to live.

Impossibilities

Ah, so I'm two hours into my current shift and just the right combination of tired and thoughtful that I feel like writing one of these. It's been too long; I'll summarize some of the things that I've glossed over in the past weeks. I'll see what new stones I have to turn over, too, in the process of detailing all this.

First and foremost, I'm still pretty sane. I'll admit that the logistics and timings of this last week have not necessarily been the most conducive to this orientation, but it'll all be over soon enough. The weekend looms just ahead, and now's time for the sprint to the finish. I'm actually surprisingly lucid for how little sleep I've been obtaining in the past week or so.

Leigh hasn't spoken to me in over a month, and by now the spite I felt has faded. Spite born of hypocrisy, mainly, considering the method of her departure - as a key is designed to fit an exact lock, the punishment was clearly designed to fit me specifically. I no longer feel much about the situation, but mainly sit in objective observation. I simply find it curious and a bit amusing that the person who commiserated with me about being abandoned by a friend over a small fight would mirror the exact behavior? I chalk it up to the same syndrome that drives battered children to become more violent with their own offspring.

I bought a pair of toys in the past week, a GPS unit and a new camera. The camera was originally purposed to snap photos of an ill-fated trip to the beach on Friday, but it will serve me well in other endeavors. I'm getting the hang of the GPS, figuring out what it handles well and what it has trouble with. Another daytrip may be in order, if I can convince someone to come with; perhaps to rural Pennsylvania - Centralia's always been a fascination of mine, one of the most famous ghost towns in America, with its ever-burning foundations.

My wanderlust is becoming more and more pronounced with every hour I spend in these windowless rooms at work. I find myself missing the naive plans of the summertime to sojourn halfway across the country to some place not all that remarkable, the only souvenirs long-winded stories of using the last gas fume partway between St. Louis and Kansas City. The promise and potential lie dormant for now. Too far out on that limb.

Well, Maybe Sometimes

Never has fifty-four degrees seemed so warm. It's gonna be a great week of sun and spring weather! Here I'll show off my new digital camera a little - more about my new toys later, though!

Best Buy Blowout

I may have finally found it. After months of searching and waiting, I'm closer and closer to pouncing. What seems like eons of saving up has led to this point.

I think I may be buying my heralded television on Friday.

Yes, the wonderful Black Friday has once again duped me into getting excited about getting stuff for super cheap. The piece of machinery, nay artistry, is a 46" 1080p Samsung LCD model with three HDMI inputs. Half a foot smaller than I was thinking initially, but the price tag makes it the most tempting; on Friday, it'll be available for $1099.

I've been to Black Friday sales before, and haven't had a whole lot of success due to my very small commitment to it. The cold Minnesota winters don't do much for my ability to keep my eyes on the prize. Out here, though, I may have more success. I actually hope it's abnormally cold, because that may eliminate some of the competition. I may end up going out at one or two in the morning just to ensure that I'm able to get what I want.

I made up a big finance sheet today to ensure that I had enough money. I definitely do, but I did a lot of math with the numbers I came up with. Apparently when you take into account car payments, insurance of all sorts, food, rent, random purchases, cable, electric and heat, and everything else, it costs me about $85 per day to live. Awesome. That seems like a lot. Also, I spend an average of just under $3 a day on gasoline.

Fusion Power

Apparently, I left a couple things back in Minnesota. Unfortunately, my razor was among those things, so I had to stop by Wegman's to grab a new one today. I looked for the same kind I was used to - a Gillette Fusion razor I got in the mail a few years ago. It worked adequately as long as I replaced the blade every few weeks.

I got to Wegman's today and the shelves were full of several different Gillette Fusion products, but none that matched up with my old razor. I had to settle with a new model - it looks like it shares the same type of razor that my old one did, but with one subtle difference.

This one came with batteries.

Yes, apparently it's necessary now to needlessly toss in a triple A battery and make the razor jiggle as you shave. Will it make a difference? Only time will tell...
